Methodology
A fixed 40-question test spends most of its questions on the wrong difficulty for you. If you are well above average, the first twenty items tell it almost nothing; if you are below, the last twenty do the same. Adapting fixes that.
Every item carries a difficulty value. After each answer the estimate of your ability updates, and the next item is drawn near that estimate — where it carries the most information.
Result: a tighter confidence interval from fewer items.
Spatial, logical, numerical and verbal reasoning are estimated on their own before contributing to the composite, so an uneven profile shows up as a shape rather than being flattened into one number.

Each item has a known difficulty. After you answer, your estimated ability updates, and the next item is chosen close to that estimate — where an answer tells us the most. A fixed test spends many items far from your level; this one does not, which is why the estimate lands measurably tighter over the same 40 questions. In our simulations that is about 20% more accurate than a fixed easy-to-hard test of the same length.
About twelve minutes. Individual items are not timed, but your response time is recorded and reported back in the paid report, because how quickly you solve something is part of the picture.
Yes. Items are drawn from a large bank, so a retake is not the same test twice. Expect some practice effect on a second attempt within a short period — the report accounts for it and shows your attempts side by side.
